Caring for your Oz Collector Plates

Preservation of your Oz Collector Plates
*Collector Plates require minimum care and attention, but there are a few basic rules to follow by to preserve your plates for a very, very long time.
*The way plates are stored plays a major role in their preservation. With safe storage there is basically nothing to be done but dusting them occasionally.
*If you need to wash a plate, make sure that it has a glazed surface. A simple wiping with a damp cloth should remove surface dust as long as it has not been building for a while.
*Glazed surface collector can be washed should be done in a basin with lukewarm water and mild soap. Do not use hot water and ordinary dish detergent. For wiping use a soft cloth. Do not wipe hard. Also, do not wash under running water but always in basin.
*Be very careful if washing a plate with gold banding or gold highlights, it can rub off if washing with water. Better to clean these type of plates with just a feather duster or soft cloth.
*Wiping surfaces that are not glazed only rubs the dirt into the porous surface. Over time, the result is a plate whose surface appears dull, dirty even stained.
*Use a feather duster to clean the surfaces of bisque plates. Do this at least once a month, built up dirt can be an enemy.
